The Witherle Library Foreign Affairs discussion group will meet by zoom on Wednesday, March 1 from 5-6pm. The topic is the possibility of immigration reform, and specifically how immigration could meet the skilled and unskilled labor shortages in the US economy. Moderated by Barbara Griffiths. To give a sense of the bipartisan support for reform in the US, the article below describes the efforts of a right-of-center (including far right) coalition to enact a series of immigration reforms during the last Congress. The efforts failed, but the coalition continues to post the legislative proposals by the new Congress, especially the House, which give a sense of the new extremes.
