— the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,
— climate change impacts,
— increased humanitarian demands,
— the effects of sanctions policies on agriculture inputs such as energy, seeds, fertilizer, as well as transport,
— countries most affected by Russia’s war on Ukraine, and
— foreign policy options.
SUGGESTED READINGS
Millions Are on the Edge of Famine | Opinion | David Wallace-Wells, June 12, 2022 (print copy available for reading in the library); digital version under a different title, How Bad is the Global Food Crisis Going to Get?
The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) 6/22 report entitled Food Outlook. It’s comprehensive but readable and will set the stage for discussions. There is a special section of the report focused on the broad impacts of Russia’s war on Ukraine. As well, there are policy recommendations from the FAO to address the countries most at risk.
