Thanks to a generous gift from the Friends of Witherle Library, Toddler Storytime is hitting the road!

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Richard Scarry’s Cars and Trucks and Things that Go, once a month, children will enjoy at story followed by time on child-sized vehicles.

Toddlers are at the sensorimotor stage, when they learn about the world through their senses and by physically interacting with objects. Some of the vehicles are imaginative, such as a ladybug car, while others are familiar to the children, such as a UPS truck or farm equipment.

These sessions will focus on motor skills, problem-solving, language development, imagination, and sharing. This activity will help them learn to be careful, too.  As we do with library books and the Mr Wiggles program in PreK-K, the Storytime children will learn to treat the vehicles well, park them carefully, shut the doors and close the hatches before taking a turn on a new vehicle.

Ages 1 to 5 with a grownup.
