Create a Typewriter-Inspired Postcard in the Art of Etegami Workshop
Taught by Lynn Cooper.
Join us for a hands-on introduction to Etegami, the Japanese art of creating simple, heartfelt postcards that combine watercolor illustrations with thoughtful words. In this 1-hour workshop, participants will learn the basics of this charming art form and then create their own postcard inspired by the historic typewriters on exhibit at the library.
Etegami is rooted in the philosophy that beauty is found in imperfection, and that anyone—regardless of skill level—can make art that connects. Using traditional supplies like gansai watercolor, washi postcards, and sumi ink, you’ll be guided through the process of observing a subject closely, painting expressively, and adding words that speak from the heart.
No experience is necessary in Etegami. The simple and meditative art form can be learned and enjoyed by anyone.
The workshop is designed for ages 12 and up. All materials will be provided.
