SUMMARY:The Bagaduce: A Workshop on Photo-based Storytelling
DESCRIPTION:University of Maine graduate student\, Kevin Duffy\, will host 
 a workshop about photo-based storytelling. The workshop will be the first 
 in a series examining development and change along the Bagaduce River Estu
 ary using photographs. The workshop will introduce the Maine Coast Photov
 oice Project\, a collaborative\, community-based research effort Duffy sta
 rted last year to document the opportunities and challenges facing communi
 ties along coastal estuaries in Maine.\n\nKevin Duffy is Ph.D. candidate a
 nd undergraduate instructor in the Department of Communication and Journal
 ism at the University of Maine. He researches how traditional media (print
  news\, photography) and its producers can shape perceptions about resourc
 e use and development. His interest in media-environment relationships ste
 ms from his previous work and outreach efforts as a science writer for env
 ironmental non-profits\, news services\, and government agencies in the Gr
