SUMMARY:Handheld Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Learn to weave by hand using small\, handheld wooden looms! Thi
 s method of weaving allows the process to become more accessible for maker
 s of all experience levels\, while the personal scale affords further oppo
 rtunities for creating on the go\, wherever you may roam. During this work
 shop\, students will learn the basics of simple tapestry weaving on their 
 own miniature loom to take home using organic\, foraged materials and natu
 rally dyed fibers. Each student will warp their very own loom and experime
 nt with "bookmark" weaving techniques to create texture\, color stories\, 
 and patterns on the frame. We will embrace our surroundings and settle int
 o stillness as we tune into the meditative qualities of weaving. Inch by i
 nch\, row by row\, participants will gain an understanding of the creative
  capacity of small-scale weaving.\n\nAges 7 and older with an adult. Emers

 cator\, naturalist\, and business owner from the Blue Hill peninsula in Ma
 ine. Her mixed media work and company\, Teach Peace Prints\, are inspired 
 by place-based making and our interconnectedness to the environment. With 
 a passion for multidisciplinary making\, she enjoys learning and teaching 
 together with people of all ages\, hoping to inspire others to become more
  connected to the earth through the power of art and community.
