 ibrary Reading Room\n\nThis Saturday we feature internationally renowned c
 ellist Marion Feldman.\nMarion Feldman is recognized as one of today’s l
 eading performers and pedagogues of cello and chamber music. She is a memb
 er of the artist faculty at New York University\, Steinhardt School Depart
 ment of Music and Performing Arts Professions\, where she teaches cello an
 d chamber music. Along with this\, she has been on the cello and chamber m
 usic faculty of Manhattan School of Music\, College and Preparatory Divisi
 ons\, since 1974 and the CUNY Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music since
  1972. She also is a member of the faculty at the City University Graduate
  Center. Miss Feldman received her training as a scholarship student at Th
 e Juilliard School\, where she studied with her mentor\, Luigi Silva. Addi
 tional studies were with Leonard Rose\, Bernard Greenhouse\, and Zara Nels
 ova. Chamber music tutelage was with the members of the Juilliard String Q
 uartet\, William Primrose\, Artur Balsam\, Louis Persinger\, and Hans Letz
 .\nLater\, she attended the Accademia Chigiana in Siena\, ltaly\, for summ
 er courses with Andre Navarra. Following this\, she coached with Marion Da
 vies\, a student of the famous Emanuel Feuermann\, gaining musical and tec
 hnical insight into his highly regarded approach to music-making and cello
  playing. Miss Feldman has appeared extensively throughout the United Stat
 es and the Far East as orchestral soloist\, recitalist\, and chamber music
 ian. Included among her many engagements have been numerous recitals at Ca
 rnegie Recital Hall (Weill)\, Tully Hall (Lincoln Center)\, and Merkin Hal
 l in New York City. She has been invited to many festivals in the Far East
 \, among them those in Taiwan\, Korea\, and Mainland China. In 1992 and in
  2001\, she participated in government-sponsored tours of Taiwan. In addit
 ion to this\, in 2001 she appeared in concert in Taipei giving master clas
 ses sponsored by the Quanta Education Foundation and the Taipei American S
 chool. This led to a collaboration for concerts at the National Concert Ha
 ll in Taipei\, and master classes with members of the Ars Trio Taipei. Fro
 m 1993 to the present\, she has appeared at many festivals in Korea. These
  include the Seoul Music Festival\, Cheju-Halla Festival\, and the Kangneu
 ng-Manhattan Festival.\nShe was invited to be a visiting professor for the
  spring festival at the Soong-Sil University in Seoul\, where she gave a s
 eries of master classes. During the last three summers she has taught and 
 performed at the Dae-Jin University Festival in Seoul\, Korea. Ms. Feldman
  was invited by the government of Mainland China to give master classes an
 d a recital at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Central Conservatory in B
 eijing. Marion Feldman is presently a member of the chamber group Metamorp
 hosis\, a piano quartet that is comprised of NYU faculty members.\nShe was
  for ten years a member of the New York Lyric Arts Trio. The group not onl
 y toured the United States but also founded the Downeast Chamber Music Cen
 ter in Castine\, Maine. The Center ran both a summer school and a chamber 
 series which featured the trio. Later\, she joined the New Manhattan Trio 
 with the late Erick Friedman\, violinist\, and Joseph Seiger\, pianist. Sh
 e has also been a member of the Lorenzo Trio and the Aureus Ensemble.\nIn 
 the Fall of 2014-15 she gave a series of master classes in Taiwan. They we
 re at the prestigious National Taipei Arts University\, Shih-Chien Normal 
 University\, National Kaoshiung Normal University and Taiwan Classical Mus
 ic Society. In the United States her summer activities have included: Down
 east Chamber Music Center as co-director and cello and chamber music facul
 ty\, NYU String Quartet Intensive as co-director and cello and chamber mus
 ic faculty\, NYU Summer Strings cello and chamber music faculty\, Aria\, S
 ummit and Waterloo Summer Festivals and Manhattan in the Mountains. In Mar
 ch 2015 she became a recipient of an NYU Excellence in Teaching Award. One
  of her recent projects has been compiling and editing the Cello Legacy Se
 ries for Carl Fisher music publishing company. Her published works are Cas
 als Legacy\, Rostropovich: In Memoriam\, Feuermann Legacy\, and Du Pré Le
 gacy.
