Seed Library Opens May 1

Witherle Memorial Library joins libraries across the country by offering free seeds and gardening education.  Our library is more than a place to check out books, we have created a modest seed library that encourages patrons to come in and “borrow” seeds to start their spring garden. Creating  opportunities like this gets people outside and gets children involved with gardening.

We are in our second year of offering seeds at the library upstairs in our reading room from the little orange seed case courtesy of the Lamontanaro Family. We believe it is important to share the potential of good food and we have a  great selection of organic seeds that can be sown into the soil as weather permits.  Come and see what we are offering a little bit of everything from bush beans to tundra spinach, breakfast radishes, and Celebration Swiss Chard! Seeds will be available May 1st. Come in and check out our large selection of gardening books for adults and children.
