Movie China
By Robin Mass
My mother grew up during the Depression. She told me that she and her mother would go to the local movie theater once a week or so. Each time they went to theater they were given a piece of china that was made in Japan. This was similar to when I was growing up and my mother needed gas for the car, the employee would pump the gas and clean the windshield. When the transaction was complete, the employee gave us some plastic handle steak knives or some gray glasses.
This month’s exhibit showcases some pieces of movie china. On display through February during regular library hours.
